Culture, education and integration in Essen
As a non-profit organisation we foster participation and open-minded coexistence – with education and culture programmes and around 270 language and integration mediators in about 64 languages.
Who we are
The Fördergesellschaft Kultur und Integration gGmbH (FKI) is a non-profit organisation based in Essen. We promote art and culture, education and the participation of people with a migration or refugee background. Since 2015 we have been a recognised provider of independent youth welfare (§ 75 SGB VIII) and are closely networked in Essen with public departments, associations and migrant organisations.
Our focus areas
Our work connects education, culture and integration:
- Language and integration mediation (SprInt) – understanding in the social, education and health sectors
- Education & school – school helpers and language support at Essen schools
- Art & culture – music and cultural events and artistic support
- Participation & encounter – projects such as “B5” and neighbourhood programmes
