What we do

From language and integration mediation to education, culture, voluntary service, training and projects.

Language and integration mediation (SprInt)

A key focus of our work is deploying language and integration mediators (SprInt). They mediate between people with a migration background and mainstream services – with specialist interpreting and intercultural mediation.

Their tasks include:

  • specialist interpreting
  • conveying socio-cultural knowledge (e.g. dealing with illness, role models, taboos)
  • recognising misunderstandings and intervening appropriately
  • assisting social work professionals

We currently deploy around 270 language and integration mediators in about 64 languages and dialects – for example in youth and health authorities, clinics, day-care centres, schools and job centres, as well as welfare organisations such as Diakonie and Caritas. The service can be requested by authorities, institutions, federations and associations.
